Is it absolutely necessary to replace the sand media after 5-7 years. Maintenance involves annual removal of the top layers os sand. Raw water is treated with alum and cationic poly electrolyte and then led to the single media filter after coagulation, flocculation and sedimentation. Water is sourced from a river.
