If the answer is yes, please give a little explanation about how does it work

Is it possible to remove soluble organic mater (by soluble I mean below 0.45 µm) by using lime softening? Calcium oxide ( CaO ) or hydrated Lime (slaked) does not increase carbonate alkalinity and do drastically raise water pH level.
CaO (s) + H2O (l) is in equilibrium with Ca(OH)2 (aq)

Calcium Oxide will increase alklinity of water when applied? what is the reaction chemically?

Calcium oxide ( CaO ) or hydrated Lime (slaked) does not increase carbonate alkalinity and do drastically raise water pH level.

CaO (s) + H2O (l) is in equilibrium with Ca(OH)2 (aq)

By: Dr.S.M

<guid
